When you go to get your windshield completely replaced, you expect the mechanic or technician tending to your auto glass to install it properly. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. In fact, there are many drivers and front-seat passengers injured every year as a result of poorly installed windshields. Luckily for you, the technicians here at Windshield Centers ensure a quality job well done each time. But, on the off chance you don’t visit one of our centers, there are some warning signs you should be on the lookout for. Check them out below…
The Windshield is Not Flush
If you notice your windshield does not fit correctly in the frame, that’s a problem. If you have been going to your mechanic for years and consider them seasoned, they’ll find the right windshield for your vehicle and install it the correct way. The goal is to have the frame adhere perfectly to the edges without moving at all. If you get your windshield from a junkyard, it may not fit this criterion because it might not be the correct one for your car. If that’s the case, you’re increasing the possibility of windshield issues down the road. To avoid this, order a new glass windshield if you require a full replacement.
You’ll know if your windshield has a bad seal if you notice water leaking through around the frame. A poorly applied windshield seal is also quite dangerous since a faulty seal gives your windshield the opportunity to come loose. If you notice water coming through the seal of your windshield, visit your nearest Windshield Centers location. We’ll fix the problem for you ASAP.
Old Adhesive is Still There
If your windshield is properly installed, the old factory adhesive will be completely removed before the new windshield is put in. If it’s not, and the old factory adhesive remains, it will not allow the new adhesive to seal the new windshield properly and create a weatherproof seal. The mechanic or technician who installs your new windshield should be making sure they clean out the former seal and start anew.
If you notice any of these signs while in your car after getting a new windshield, address them immediately. Your safety is important, as well as the interior health of your vehicle, so make sure your windshield is properly installed.
